Postcards from the Piazzas, bronze and granite

c j fleury has been selected as the winner of the Preston Street Rehabilitation public art project. Her work entitled Postcards from the Piazzas will consist of 15 bronze and granite sculptures that echo designs of Italian piazzas and stories from the Preston Street community.

Each unique work will be composed of a stylized bronze object on top of a granite art-column and made to human scale. The columns will be engraved with text and designs drawn from Italian Piazzas, the local community and human connections to Preston Street. According to the artist, "the sum of visual and verbal design elements offers a contemporary play with scale, abstraction, communication and time."

c j fleury is recognized for her collaborative involvement with community in the creation of her art. For Postcards from the Piazzas, c j will actively engage the Preston community in the public art process through the collection and inclusion of authentic letters, memories and stories.
