Get to Know the People on Preston

Natalie Esau

“I’ve known since I was about 13 years old that I wanted to be an esthetician. In high school I did a co-op placement in a tanning salon and spa and I really fell in love with all the services. I loved it so much. I just knew it was my calling. When I was 18 I moved to Montreal and went to esthetics school there. I completed the course and just launched right into a career.”

“I’d always worked in a corporate setting and thought, ‘I could do better.’ I’m very much a self-starter, wanting to do something for myself and I knew I could succeed in it. And I am doing very well. Skin is what I know, nails is what I know and it’s all about just making sense of it. I have an entrepreneurial spirit. I think you’re just born with that.”

“The whole concept is upkeep, rather than anti-age. Anti-age is a negative. We’re all about upkeep or maintaining. And for everyone; men and women. It’s a super social environment; it’s more of a lounge. We’re working on leather couches for our pedicures, oak manicure tables with gunmetal steel. It’s quite different than a traditional spa.”

“I’m a resident of this neighbourhood so I love it. When you start checking out the businesses, they’re awesome. There’s really a lot to this neighbourhood and a lot coming.”
